Fingerprint Busy Bees by Kaboose

What you'll need:

  • 1 sheet white construction paper
  • Paint: sunflower or tan and yellow
  • Paper plate or dish
  • Black fine pint marker

How to make it:

  1. Put a small amount of tan- or sunflower-colored paint onto a paper plate or dish.
  2. To make the honeycomb, press finger into paint and dot off excess on plate, then press onto white construction paper. The pattern to follow for the honeycomb is basically two pyramids with their bottoms next to one another. Dot on one fingerprint, then two below that, centering the one above, then three below that, and four and five below that. Then simply reverse the pattern you just did to make the bottom end of the honeycomb.
  3. Wash off finger(s) and put some yellow paint onto the paper plate or dish.
  4. Dip finger in yellow paint as described in step 2 and dot on bee bodies all over the paper.
  5. Wash hands and allow the painting to dry completely before moving to the next step.
  6. Use a black marker to draw in stripes, wings and eyes. See photo for example of two types of bees you can draw, a side view and overhead view. (See image.)
  7. Dot on the flight trails with black marker--"bee creative" and take them wherever you want!
